Sending a Contract for E-Signature
Step-by-step guide to sending documents for legally binding e-signature from Plenix.
Sending a Contract for E-Signature
Plenix lets you send contracts and proposals for legally binding electronic signature. Signers do not need a Plenix account.
Step 1: Open E-Signatures
Go to E-Signatures in the sidebar and click New Signature Request.
Step 2: Select the document
- Upload a file (PDF or Word document)
- Link to a document already in the Documents Hub
- Select an accepted proposal from CRM to convert it to a contract
Step 3: Add signature fields
In the document viewer, click New Signature Request and drag it to where the signer should sign. Options: Signature block, Initials field, Text field (for company name, date, etc.). Mark fields as Required or optional.
Step 4: Add signers
Click Add Signer and enter each person's name and email. Set a signing order if signatures must happen in sequence (e.g. employee signs first, then manager).
Step 5: Send
Click Send for Signature. Each signer receives a branded email with a signing link (valid 30 days by default, no login required).
After signing
- You receive an email notification when each signer completes.
- Final document is auto-archived in the Documents Hub.
- Full audit trail records who signed, when, from which IP address, and the email used.
Checking status
The E-Signatures dashboard shows: Pending, Partially signed, Completed, or Expired. Send a reminder to outstanding signers with one click.
Legal validity
Plenix e-signatures are legally binding in the UK, EU, and USA under the Electronic Communications Act 2000, eIDAS Regulation, and ESIGN Act respectively.
