How to Read the MRR Dashboard
Understand the monthly recurring revenue dashboard — what each metric means, how it is calculated, and how to drill into individual clients or services.
What is the MRR Dashboard?
The MRR Dashboard (Billing → MRR) shows the health of your recurring revenue in real time. It aggregates all active managed service contracts and subscription billing lines into standard SaaS revenue metrics.
Key metrics
| Metric | Definition |
|---|---|
| MRR | Monthly Recurring Revenue — total active contract value normalised to a monthly figure |
| ARR | Annual Recurring Revenue — MRR × 12 |
| New MRR | Revenue from contracts that started this month |
| Churned MRR | Revenue from contracts cancelled or expired this month |
| Expansion MRR | Upsells — contracts where the value increased this month |
| Net Revenue Retention | (MRR − Churn + Expansion) / Previous MRR × 100 |
MRR normalisation
- Monthly contracts count as-is
- Quarterly contracts are divided by 3
- Annual contracts are divided by 12
Reading the chart
The dashboard shows an MRR trend chart with up to 12 months of history. Each bar is colour-coded:
- Blue — retained MRR (unchanged contracts)
- Green — new + expansion MRR
- Red — churned MRR
Drilling into detail
Click any bar on the chart to see the breakdown for that month:
- Which clients contributed new MRR
- Which clients churned
- Which contracts expanded
Filtering
Use the filter bar to narrow by:
- Service category (Managed IT, Cloud, Print, etc.)
- Client — see MRR for one company
- Date range
Where the data comes from
MRR is fed by:
- ERP → Services assigned to companies with active contracts
- Billing → Subscriptions for plan-based subscriptions
- Q2C pipeline — recurring lines on fulfilled proposals
Any cancelled contract reduces MRR from its end date. New contracts add to MRR from their start date.
Exporting
Click Export CSV in the top-right to download the current MRR breakdown. Use this for board reporting or import into a financial model.
