Asking the Assistant to Do Things
The built-in assistant can now carry out actions for you — and always asks before it changes anything.
What changed
The assistant used to answer questions: summarise a ticket, find a record, draft a reply. Useful, but it stopped at telling you.
It can now carry out actions as well. Ask it to update a ticket or draft and log a reply, and it will do it — after asking you first.
How the confirm step works
This is the part worth understanding, because it is what makes the feature safe to use.
- You ask for something.
- The assistant works out what that means in Plenix and shows you exactly what it is about to do — which record, which field, what value.
- Nothing happens until you click confirm.
- If you cancel, nothing happens at all.
There is no mode where it acts without asking. If you did not confirm it, it did not happen.
Why it asks every time
An assistant that acts on its own interpretation is fine until it misreads you, and then it has changed a real customer's real record. The confirm step turns a misunderstanding into a click of "no" instead of something you have to undo.
Read the confirmation before clicking. It is showing you what it understood.
What it can do
Broadly: the things you can already do yourself, in the modules you already have access to.
The assistant cannot exceed your own permissions. If you cannot see payroll, neither can it, on your behalf. Asking it to do something you are not allowed to do gets you the same refusal you would get from the menu.
Getting good results
- Be specific about which record. "Update ticket 4471" beats "update that ticket."
- One thing at a time. Simple requests confirm cleanly; long compound ones are harder to check.
- Read the confirmation. It takes two seconds and is the entire safety net.
For your IT team
- Actions run through the same permission and audit layers as the equivalent UI action.
- Every assistant-performed action is written to the audit trail attributed to the user who confirmed it, not to the assistant.
