Dashboards β€” Edit Any Widget: Values, Ranking, Date Range and Chart Style

Choose which values a widget shows, rank by Top or Bottom, change the date range on the widget itself and change the chart style on any dashboard.

Every chart widget on every dashboard uses the same builder: the main dashboard, Ticketing, CRM, HCM, Field Service, Projects, Monitoring and Accounting. The basic widgets, such as Ticket Status or By Queue, are a quick starting point. Once you pick one, every option is open to you.

Open a widget's settings

  1. Click Edit Layout on the dashboard.
  2. Click the cog on the widget you want to change, or Add Widget to create one.
  3. Change what you need and save the widget, then save the dashboard.

You can change anything after a widget is created, including its chart style.

Set the time frame

Pick a Time frame such as Today, This week, Last 30 days or All time, and the date field it applies to, for example Created or Resolved. The widget counts only records in that window.

Change the date range from the widget itself

Every widget has a date range button in its header. Click it to look at a different period, for example the last 7 days or this year, without opening the builder. The widget then shows that period and the button is highlighted. Choose Reset to default to go back to the widget's saved time frame. Each widget keeps its own range, so two widgets on the same dashboard can show different periods.

The Ticketing dashboard no longer has one date selector across the top of the page. Use the range on each widget instead.

Choose which values appear

The builder shows a picker named after the grouping, such as Status to show or Queue to show. Tick only the values you want. For example, on a Ticket Status widget tick Open and In progress to hide everything else. Leave it empty to show every value.

This works for any grouping: status, priority, queue, company, stage, platform, department and so on.

Rank by Top or Bottom

Under Ranking, choose Top 3, Top 5, Top 10, Top 20, Bottom 3, Bottom 5, Bottom 10 or Show all. The ranking uses the widget's own measure, so a widget that sums invoice value ranks by value and one that counts tickets ranks by count.

Tick Group everything else into one "Other" row to keep the chart adding up to the full total. Click "Other" to see the records behind it.

Change the chart style

Pick from vertical bars, horizontal bars, leaderboard, stacked bars, 100% stacked, heatmap, line, step line, area, pie, donut, half donut, radial bars, radar, treemap, funnel, Pareto (80/20), progress bars, stat cards and table. Stacked styles and the heatmap need a Split by field.

Other options

  • Measure. Count, or a total, average or rate, depending on the data.
  • Group by and Split by. What the chart is broken down by.
  • Filters. Narrow the records, for example to one company or one priority.
  • Compare. Show the change against the previous period.
  • Target. Add a goal to a single-number widget.

Why two widgets may show different totals

Two widgets only match when they count the same records. Check that both use the same time frame, date field, filters and values to show. A widget ranked to Top 10 without the "Other" row shows only those ten.

Chart labels

Bar charts name every bar, show the value on each bar and include a colour key, so you can read a chart without hovering over it.

Ready-made dashboards

A new workspace opens with a full set of widgets on the main dashboard and on every module dashboard: donut, pie, vertical bar, horizontal bar and number widgets for the figures that matter most in that area. Widgets for modules that are not on your plan are left out.

A dashboard you have already changed keeps your layout. To switch it to the ready-made layout, click Edit Layout, then Reset, then Save. Reset replaces the widgets on that dashboard, so note any widgets you want to add back first.
