Document Audit Log
See every change across the document library β who created, edited, opened, moved, deleted, shared or changed access to what, and when β and export it to CSV.
What this covers
The audit log is one place to see everything that has happened in your document library. It's for administrators: on app.plenix.cloud that means super admins, and in your workspace it means your administrators.
Plan: Business and above.
Opening it
Go to Documents and click Audit log at the top of the page. People who aren't administrators don't see the button, and the log can't be opened any other way.
What's recorded
| Category | What you see |
|---|---|
| Files | Uploaded, created, edited, renamed, moved, moved to the trash, restored and deleted for good |
| Folders | Created (including from a template), renamed, moved, moved to the trash, restored and deleted |
| Views & downloads | Who opened, previewed or downloaded a file |
| Versions | New versions, restored versions and named versions |
| Sharing | Share links created and revoked, links emailed, and every time a link was opened, used to download, comment or upload, plus wrong password attempts |
| Permissions | Access granted, changed or removed, and who it was for |
| Security groups | Groups created, renamed and deleted, and members added or removed |
| Comments | Added, resolved, reopened and deleted |
| Settings | Changes to the version retention policy |
Each entry shows who did it, what it was about, the folder it was in, when it happened and the IP address. Actions taken through a share link are marked as coming from the link.
When a link is emailed, the log keeps the To and CC addresses. BCC recipients are recorded only as a number, because they were hidden from everyone else on purpose.
Finding something
- Category: show one kind of change, such as Permissions.
- Person or item: type part of a person's name or a file or folder name, then press Enter.
- From and To: limit the log to a date range. To includes the whole of that day.
- Click Apply to use the search and dates, or Reset to clear everything.
The newest entries come first, 100 at a time. Click Load more at the bottom to see older ones.
Exporting to CSV
Click Export CSV to download what matches your current filters, up to 5,000 rows. Use it for audits, or to keep a copy outside Plenix.
Activity and version history for a single item
Administrators can also see the history of one file or folder: choose Activity or Version history from its menu. See Activity Log and Comments and Version History, Trash and Quick Views.
For your IT team
GET /documents/audittakescategory,action,actorId,q,from,to,take(up to 500) andcursor, and returns{ items, nextCursor }.GET /documents/audit/exportreturns the same results as CSV.- Both need the administrator role. Other users get 403.
