Rent Payments
Track rent due and received, with arrears highlighted.
What this tracks
Rent due and received against each tenancy, with arrears highlighted so nothing is missed. Payments tie back to the property and the tenant, giving a clear view of cashflow across the portfolio.
Recording a payment
- Go to Property β Rent Payments.
- Find the due payment for the tenancy.
- Record the amount received and the date.
- Save.
Partial payments
Record what was actually received. The shortfall stays visible as arrears rather than being rounded away, which is what you need when the conversation about it happens.
Reading arrears
Arrears are highlighted per tenancy. Two things matter: the amount, and how long it has been outstanding. A small balance three months old is a bigger problem than a large one three days old.
Where the schedule comes from
Due payments are generated from the rent and frequency on the tenancy. If the expected amount is wrong, fix it on the tenancy β correcting individual payments leaves the schedule wrong for every future period.
Tip: Reconcile against your bank weekly rather than monthly. Rent that went to the wrong reference is far easier to trace within days than weeks.
