A Tour of the Credentials Vault
How the vault is laid out, how to find a credential fast, and the keyboard shortcuts.
The Credentials Vault holds every password, key and secure note for your clients and your own company. Open it from Credentials in the sidebar.
You need two-factor authentication switched on for your account before the vault opens. If it is off, the vault tells you and links to your profile.
The three panes
- Left: views. Quick views, smart views, clients, categories, types and tags. Each shows how many credentials it holds. Click one to filter the list.
- Middle: the list. Every credential that matches the view and your search.
- Right: the credential. Click a credential to open it here. With nothing selected, this pane shows an overview of the vault.
The header
- Security score. One number for the whole vault and how many credentials need attention. Click it to see them.
- Shared links. Every share link, with the option to revoke.
- Activity. Who viewed, revealed, copied, shared or changed anything.
- Secure Send. Send a one-off secret that is not stored in the vault.
- New credential.
- More. Import, export and the breach scan. Administrators only.
Search
Press / and type. Search looks at the name, username, URL, client, category and tags. Every word must match, so acme firewall finds Acme's firewall and nothing else.
Sorting
Sort the list by name, client, recently updated, recently used, weakest first or oldest password.
Working from the list
Hover over a row to:
- copy the username
- copy the password, which clears from your clipboard after 30 seconds
- star it as a favourite
Badges on a row show if the password is weak, reused, breached, expiring or expired.
Selecting several credentials
Tick the boxes on the left of the rows, or tick the box at the top to select everything shown. A bar appears with the bulk actions: favourite, add tag, set category, move to another client, move to bin. In the Bin the actions are restore and delete forever.
Inside a credential
The right pane has five tabs:
- Details. Username, password, URL, 2FA code, custom fields, notes, expiry and health.
- Access. Who can see or use this credential. See Credential access control.
- Activity. Everything that has happened to this credential.
- History. Earlier passwords. See Password history.
- Shares. Share links for this credential.
A revealed password hides itself again after 30 seconds.
Keyboard shortcuts
- / search
- N new credential
- Up and Down move through the list
- Esc close the open credential or dialog
Links you can bookmark
The address bar keeps your view, client and open credential, so you can bookmark or send a colleague a link to exactly what you are looking at. They still need access to see it.
