Voice and Video Calls

Start voice or video calls from any conversation, share your screen, and use reactions, raise hand and host controls.

Voice and Video Calls

You can start a call from any direct message, group chat, channel or meeting in Team Messages.

Plan: Team Comms (messages, channels, calls, meetings and guest links) is part of the Enterprise plan. On other plans the Team Messages page shows that the feature is not available.

Starting and answering

  1. Open the conversation.
  2. Click Voice call or Video call in the header.
  3. Everyone else in the conversation is rung. They can Answer with video, Answer with audio only or Decline.

If a call is already running in a conversation, a phone icon appears next to it in the list. Open the conversation to join.

A call holds up to 8 people. For bigger groups, use a meeting and keep cameras off where you can.

During a call

  • Microphone, camera and speaker β€” pick your devices, mute or turn your camera off
  • Share your screen β€” share a window, a tab or your whole screen
  • React and Hand raised β€” react without interrupting, or raise your hand to speak
  • Meeting chat β€” a chat alongside the call. Everyone in the call sees it, guests included.
  • Full screen or Minimise (keep the call going) β€” minimised calls stay in a small window while you use the rest of Plenix
  • Leave call β€” leave; the call carries on for everyone else

Host controls

In meetings, the host can open Host controls to:

  • mute everyone else
  • remove a person
  • end the call for everyone

Recording

In a meeting, you can record the call. Everyone sees This call is being recorded and a REC badge while recording is on. Recordings are saved to the meeting's Recordings tab, where people in the meeting can download them, and recordings can be deleted. Tell participants before you record, and follow your own data-protection policy.

Browser and network tips

  • Allow camera and microphone access when your browser asks. If you blocked it earlier, reset it from the padlock icon in the address bar.
  • Calls connect directly between browsers where possible. On strict corporate networks, use a wired connection or turn off video if quality drops.
