Set Up SMS Notifications with Twilio

Connect your own Twilio account so Plenix can send SMS notifications, and send a test message.

Plenix sends SMS through Twilio using your own Twilio account, so messages come from your number and appear on your Twilio bill.

What you need from Twilio

  1. Sign in to https://console.twilio.com.
  2. From the dashboard copy your Account SID (it starts with AC).
  3. Copy your Auth Token.
  4. Note the From number you have purchased in Twilio (in E.164 format, e.g. +15551234567).

Connect it in Plenix

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Integrations and scroll to SMS Notifications.
  2. Click Connect Twilio.
  3. Enter your Account SID, Auth Token, and From Number.
  4. Click Connect. Your credentials are encrypted before they are saved.

Plenix checks that the Account SID is a valid Twilio SID (it must start with AC) before saving.

Send a test SMS

Once connected, type a mobile number into the test box (e.g. +15551234567) and click Send Test. A confirmation appears if the message was accepted by Twilio. If it fails, check the number is in international format and that your Twilio balance and From number are active.

How SMS is used across Plenix

With Twilio connected, SMS notification rules (Platform β†’ SMS Notifications) can text customers or staff on events like new tickets, booked appointments, overdue invoices, and assigned work orders. Your tenant's Twilio config is always used in preference to any server default.
