Add a Device
Register a new device for network or performance monitoring.
How devices get here
Most devices appear on their own. When the Plenix agent is installed on a machine it registers itself and starts reporting, so you rarely add anything by hand. Use Add Device for kit that cannot run an agent — a switch, a router, an access point — so it still has a record to attach alerts and tickets to.
To install the agent, go to RMM → Fleet View and click Generate Installer.
Adding a device manually
- Go to Monitoring → Devices and click Add Device.
- Device Name — how it will appear in lists and alerts.
- Type — computer, server, printer, router, switch, or access point.
- IP Address, Location, Model, Serial Number — all optional, but the IP address is what lets network checks reach it.
- Click Add Device.
A manually added device holds its details and history, but it has no agent, so it reports no live telemetry. Only agent-installed devices show CPU, memory, disk and software inventory.
Tip: Printers are different — they are discovered over SNMP by an agent on the same network and claimed under Monitoring → Printers, not added here.
