Add a Device

Register a new device for network or performance monitoring.

How devices get here

Most devices appear on their own. When the Plenix agent is installed on a machine it registers itself and starts reporting, so you rarely add anything by hand. Use Add Device for kit that cannot run an agent β€” a switch, a router, an access point β€” so it still has a record to attach alerts and tickets to.

To install the agent, go to RMM β†’ Fleet View and click Generate Installer.

Adding a device manually

  1. Go to Monitoring β†’ Devices and click Add Device.
  2. Device Name β€” how it will appear in lists and alerts.
  3. Type β€” computer, server, printer, router, switch, or access point.
  4. IP Address, Location, Model, Serial Number β€” all optional, but the IP address is what lets network checks reach it.
  5. Click Add Device.

A manually added device holds its details and history, but it has no agent, so it reports no live telemetry. Only agent-installed devices show CPU, memory, disk and software inventory.

Tip: Printers are different β€” they are discovered over SNMP by an agent on the same network and claimed under Monitoring β†’ Printers, not added here.
