Monitoring Templates

Reusable check, threshold and policy sets applied across devices.

What templates do

A monitoring template is a reusable set of checks, thresholds and policies that you apply consistently across devices and clients. It replaces configuring each device by hand, which is where inconsistency creeps in.

Creating a template

  1. Go to Monitoring β†’ Templates and click New Template.
  2. Name it for what it monitors β€” Windows Server, Workstation, Network Switch.
  3. Add the checks and set the thresholds.
  4. Save.

Applying it

Apply a template to a device, a device group, or every device for a client. Applying to a group is the safer habit: new devices added to the group pick up the template automatically instead of being silently unmonitored.

Changing a template

Editing a template changes monitoring on every device using it. Review what is attached before you change a threshold β€” one edit can suppress alerting across a whole fleet.

Tip: Build a small number of templates by device role and stick to them. Fifty near-identical templates is the same problem as no templates, with more places to make a mistake.
