What custom fields do

Add your own fields to records across the platform β€” deals, tickets, companies and more β€” so Plenix captures the data your business actually needs. Custom fields appear on forms, in tables and in reports alongside the built-in ones.

Adding a field

  1. Go to Platform β†’ Custom Fields and click New Field.
  2. Choose which record type it belongs to.
  3. Name the field. This label is what everyone sees, so make it unambiguous.
  4. Choose the type β€” text, number, date, dropdown, checkbox.
  5. For a dropdown, enter the options.
  6. Save.

Where it appears

The field shows on the create and edit form for that record type, in list views, and as a column available in reports.

Before you add one

Check the record type first. Most "missing" fields already exist under a different name, and a duplicate field splits your data across two columns permanently.

Changing a field

Renaming is safe. Changing the type on a field that already holds data is not β€” existing values may not convert. Add a new field and migrate deliberately instead.

Tip: Prefer a dropdown over free text for anything you will report on. Free text produces VOIP, VoIP and Voip as three separate values in every grouping you ever run.
