Cycle Counts and ABC Classes
Count a little stock often, with the most valuable items counted most.
Inventory β Cycle Counts replaces the once-a-year stock take with small, regular counts.
ABC classes
Each night items are ranked by the value of stock that moves through them:
- A β the items that make up the first 80% of that value. Counted every 30 days.
- B β the next 15% (up to 95%). Counted every 90 days.
- C β the rest. Counted every 365 days.
Items that have never been counted are always due.
Counting
Create a count from the items that are due, or pick items yourself. A blind count hides the expected quantity from the counter. Counts go submit β review β post: the counter submits, a reviewer checks the differences, and posting updates stock. The value of any difference is posted to the Inventory Adjustments account.
