Stock Adjustments
Manually correct on-hand quantities, with a full ledger trail.
Adjustments move real stock
Saving an adjustment updates the item's on-hand quantity immediately and records a ledger row. This is not a note β it changes your inventory.
The four types
- Addition β adds units. Use for found stock or an untracked return.
- Removal β subtracts units. Use for stock consumed outside a job.
- Write-off β subtracts units for damaged, lost or expired stock.
- Correction β sets the exact count after a stock take, whichever direction that moves it.
Making an adjustment
- Go to Inventory β Stock Adjustments and click New Adjustment.
- Pick the item and the warehouse.
- Choose the type.
- Enter the quantity β or, for a correction, the counted figure.
- Record the reason. This is what makes the ledger row meaningful to whoever reads it later.
- Save.
What not to use this for
Routine movements happen on their own: receiving stock against a purchase order, and using parts on a job, both move stock automatically. Adjusting manually for those double-counts. Use this page for genuine manual corrections only.
Tip: After a stock take, use Correction with the counted number rather than working out the difference and posting an addition or removal. It is less error-prone and the ledger reads more clearly.
