Groups and Filters
Organise devices into groups you choose by hand and filters that keep themselves up to date.
Groups and filters are how you point policies, components, automations and scripts at the right devices.
- A group is a class of device, such as Windows servers, laptops or Raspberry Pis.
- A filter is a condition, such as under 4 GB of RAM, still on Windows 10 or missing Chrome.
Both fill themselves from rules and refresh every 15 minutes, so devices join and leave as they change. A group can also be hand-picked, where you add the devices yourself.
Open RMM → Device Groups.
Built-in groups and filters
Plenix ships with a catalogue of ready-made groups and filters, sorted into categories: Device class, Operating system, Windows, Apple, Linux, Manufacturer, Hardware, Health, Security & updates, Software and Status.
Built-in ones are read-only. Copy one to change it, or build your own from scratch. Use the Built-in, Custom and Pinned tabs to narrow the list.
Building your own
Choose New group or New filter and add rules with the rule builder. A rule compares a fact about the device with a value, for example operating system contains Windows 11 or memory is below 8 GB.
The preview shows which devices match before you save.
Pinning to the dashboard
Pin a group or filter to show it as a card at the top of the fleet view. Selecting the card filters the fleet to those devices.
Opening the devices
Select a group to see its members. The Devices, Online and Offline figures open the fleet view filtered to exactly those devices.

- Monitoring Policies: which devices a policy covers
- Components: where an install or fix runs
- Automations and scripts: which devices a rule or scheduled job applies to
- RMM Reports: the report builder can report on groups and filters
