Jobs
See everything RMM is doing, has done and will do, and build jobs that run on many devices at once or on a schedule.
RMM β Jobs is one place for all work sent to devices: scripts, components, application installs and updates, Windows updates, scans and restarts β whether you started it by hand or it came from a policy, an automation, a rollout or a schedule.
Live
Everything running or queued right now, with a progress bar for each device. It updates every five seconds. Filter by type (script, component, application, Windows update, scan), by where it came from, by status or by device. Open a row to read its full output. Cancel anything still queued, and retry anything that failed.
Scheduled
Everything that will run: saved jobs with their next run time, script schedules, installs set for later and the maintenance windows of your patch and application policies.
History
Everything that has finished, newest first, with the same filters β for example, what happened on one device last night.
Runs
Each time a saved job runs it creates a run. A run shows every device it targeted, the step each device is on, the result of every step and an overall progress bar. Cancel a run while it is going, or retry only the devices that failed.
Library β building a job
Select New job and give it a name. Then:
- Add steps. Search for a step and add as many as you need, in order: run a script, run a command, run a component, install, remove or update an application, update every application, install Windows updates (all, critical only or security only), scan, restart, or restart a service.
- Add a condition to a step if you like: run it only when an application is installed, or only when it is missing. For example, if Adobe Reader is not installed, install Adobe Reader. Where the condition is not met, the step shows as skipped with the reason.
- Choose what happens on failure. A device stops at its first failed step unless you tick Continue if this step fails.
- Choose the devices. Pick devices, groups, sites or customers, or build a filter such as "Windows servers with less than 10% disk free". Select Preview to see which devices match today. Filters are worked out again every time the job runs, so new devices are included automatically.
- Choose when. Run now, keep it to run by hand, run once at a set time, or repeat. Repeating jobs have ready-made schedules (every hour, every night, weekends, the Wednesday after Patch Tuesday) or your own, and can stop on a date. Devices that are offline are waited for, for the number of hours you set.
Saved jobs can be run, edited, copied, switched off and on, or deleted. An automation can also run a saved job.
Starting a job from elsewhere
Build a job on the Patch management Devices tab opens the editor with your chosen devices filled in. Patch management, application updates, scripts, components, policies and automations all show their work on this page.
Who can use it
Administrators and technicians. Technicians only see devices they are allowed to manage.
