How to Remote Control a Managed Device

Prerequisites

• The device has the Plenix agent installed and shows online in Monitoring → Devices
• Your role has the Remote Control permission

Step 1 — Open the device

1. Go to Monitoring → Devices (or RMM)
2. Click the device you want to connect to
3. The device detail page shows live telemetry and a Remote Control action

Step 2 — Start the session

1. Click Remote Control
2. Plenix negotiates a secure, end-to-end encrypted session to the agent — no VPN required
3. The remote screen appears once the session is established

Step 3 — Work on the device

During a session you can:

Action	How
Control the screen	Click and type directly on the remote desktop (Windows)
Transfer files	Drag a file into the session window, or use the file browser
Open a terminal	Switch to the Terminal tab for a live shell (PowerShell / Bash)
Run a script	Launch a saved script from the library against this device

Step 4 — End the session

Click Disconnect. The session closes immediately and the connection is torn down.

Auditing

Every remote session is recorded in the audit trail — who connected, to which device, when it started and ended. Find it under Admin → Audit or on the device's activity timeline.

Common issues

Problem	Fix
Remote Control button greyed out	Device is offline, or your role lacks the permission
Screen share unavailable on macOS/Linux	Screen capture is Windows-first today; terminal and file transfer work on all platforms
Session won't establish	Check the agent is a recent version (Monitoring → Devices shows agent version)
