How to Remote Control a Managed Device

Start a secure remote session to any Windows, macOS, or Linux device β€” screen share, transfer files, and open a terminal, with every action logged.

Prerequisites

  • The device has the Plenix agent installed and shows online in Monitoring β†’ Devices
  • Your role has the Remote Control permission

Step 1 β€” Open the device

  1. Go to Monitoring β†’ Devices (or RMM)
  2. Click the device you want to connect to
  3. The device detail page shows live telemetry and a Remote Control action

Step 2 β€” Start the session

  1. Click Remote Control
  2. Plenix negotiates a secure, end-to-end encrypted session to the agent β€” no VPN required
  3. The remote screen appears once the session is established

Step 3 β€” Work on the device

During a session you can:

Step 4 β€” End the session

Click Disconnect. The session closes immediately and the connection is torn down.

Auditing

Every remote session is recorded in the audit trail β€” who connected, to which device, when it started and ended. Find it under Admin β†’ Audit or on the device's activity timeline.
