Manage Budgets
Set a budget for each project, split it into categories and watch committed and actual spend.
Set a project budget
- Open Projects > Budgets and choose New budget.
- Search for the project. Each project has one budget.
- Enter the total budget and anything already spent.
- Optionally set Alert at (% used), for example 80. With none set, the budget is flagged at 90%.
Split it into categories
Select a budget and choose Add category to split it into labour, materials, expenses, subcontractor or other lines. Each category shows its planned, committed and spent amounts. Any part of the total not yet allocated to a category is shown under the list.
Committed spend
Committed is money promised on purchase orders that have been approved, ordered or part-received but not yet paid. It updates by itself as orders charged to the project are raised, received or cancelled. See Raise a Purchase Order.
Watch the health
Each budget shows what remains and how much is used. It is marked On track, Near limit once it passes its alert level, or Over budget. Use the summary figures at the top to list the budgets near their limit or over budget.
