Surveys and quizzes
Build surveys and scored quizzes, add logic, share by link, embed or email invitation, read results and handle follow-ups.
Surveys lets you ask customers, staff and suppliers what they think, and act on the answers. Open it from Surveys in the sidebar, just below Lead Forms. Surveys comes with Lead Forms on every plan. Plans and prices are unchanged.
The Surveys hub
The hub lists every survey you can see, with its status, number of responses, latest NPS and open follow-ups. The figures at the top open the list behind them, including My follow-ups, the follow-ups assigned to you. Click New survey to start from a blank survey or from one of 15 templates: customer satisfaction (CSAT), Net Promoter Score, support ticket feedback, customer onboarding check-in, employee engagement, eNPS pulse, exit interview, meeting feedback, training evaluation, knowledge check quiz, event feedback, product feedback, website feedback, market research and supplier evaluation.
Surveys and quizzes
- A survey gathers opinions. Nothing is right or wrong.
- A quiz marks answers. Mark questions as Scored and choose the correct answers. You can set a pass mark, show the score and the correct answers at the end, and add outcomes: a different result message for each score band.
Building a survey (Build tab)
Add questions with Choose a question type:
| Type | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Short text, Long text | Free-text answers |
| Email, Number, Date | Checked answers in a fixed format |
| Single choice, Multiple choice, Dropdown, Yes / No | Picking from options (options can be shuffled) |
| Rating | 3 to 10 stars |
| NPS | The 0β10 "how likely are you to recommend us" question |
| Scale | A numbered scale with your own labels at each end |
| Matrix | Rating several rows against the same columns |
| Ranking | Putting options in order |
| Statement | A heading or instructions, with no answer |
Mark a question Required to make it compulsory. Use Preview to try the survey exactly as people will see it. Changes are saved when you click Save. Plenix warns you about unsaved changes before you leave.
Limits: 30 pages, 200 questions, 50 questions per page and 50 options per question.
Pages and logic
- Add page splits a long survey into steps. People can go back unless you turn that off in Settings.
- Show-if rules show a question only when an earlier answer matches, for example show "What went wrong?" only if the rating is 2 or less. A question can have several rules.
- Page jumps send people to a later page, or straight to the end, based on an answer. Jumps only ever go forward.
Sharing (Share tab)
A survey starts as a draft that nobody can answer. Click Publish when the questions are ready. Close survey stops new answers, and Reopen starts them again.
- Public link β copy it and send it anywhere. New link replaces it, and the old link stops working straight away.
- Embed on your website β copy the code and paste it into your web page.
- Email invitations β invite CRM contacts or any email address, up to 500 at a time. Each person gets their own link, so their answer is linked to their contact and company. The list shows whether each invitation was sent, opened or answered.
- Reminders β choose how many days to wait, and people who have not answered are reminded each morning, up to three times. You can also remind everyone outstanding at once.
Results (Results tab)
See responses over time, where answers came from (link, embed, invitation or recorded by staff), and a card for every question: charts for choices and ratings, NPS with promoters, passives and detractors, averages for scales, matrix and ranking summaries, and recent text answers. Click any figure, bar or answer to open the responses behind it.
Use the filters to narrow the results by date, source, sentiment and follow-up status.
Responses (Responses tab)
- Open a response to see every answer, who answered (unless the survey is anonymous), and links to their contact, company and ticket.
- Search by name or email, filter, and export everything to a CSV file.
- Record a response lets staff enter answers taken over the phone or in person, linked to a contact and company.
Follow-ups
Each answer is marked happy, neutral or unhappy from its NPS, rating or scale answers. When Open a follow-up for unhappy responses is on (it is by default), an unhappy answer opens a follow-up assigned to the survey owner. Reassign it, add a note and mark it done. Open follow-ups are counted on the hub, on the survey and on the customer's record.
On the customer record
Answers from invited or linked contacts appear in Survey answers on the contact page and on the company's Customer 360 tab, with the latest NPS and any open follow-ups. Click an answer to open it.
Settings (Settings tab)
- Anonymous β no names, emails or links to contacts are stored, and search by name or email is turned off.
- Collect names and emails (optional or required), allow or block repeat answers, show a progress bar, shuffle options.
- Close the survey on a date or after a number of responses.
- Your own thank-you message, or send people on to a web page when they finish.
- Notifications β for every answer, only unhappy ones, or none.
- Visibility β open to your workspace, or private to the owner and the members you add as editors or viewers.
- Duplicate, archive, restore, transfer ownership or delete a survey.
Automations
Survey Response Received is an automation trigger. Use it to create a ticket, a task or a message whenever someone answers, or only when the answer is unhappy.
Security
Public links and submissions are rate-limited. Each invitation link only works for its own survey. Answers shown on a contact or company only appear for people who can use Surveys.
