Importing and Scoring Leads

Bring leads in from web forms and CSV or Excel files without duplicates, and see exactly why each lead has its score.

These tools are available on every plan. Go to CRM β†’ Leads.

Web forms create leads

When someone submits one of your lead capture forms with an email address, Plenix creates a lead with the source Web form. If a lead with that email already exists, the submission is merged into it instead of making a duplicate. If the form has a consent checkbox and they tick it, consent is recorded as the lawful basis.

Import from CSV or Excel

  1. Click Import and choose a .csv, .xlsx or .xls file.
  2. Match each column to a lead field. Common headings are matched for you. One column must hold the email address.
  3. Choose what happens when a lead with that email already exists: Leave the existing lead alone, or Fill in blanks on the existing lead. Optionally add a tag to every imported lead.
  4. Click Check file. Nothing is saved yet. You see how many leads are new, how many existing leads would be updated or left alone, and any rows with problems.
  5. Click Import to save them.

Emails are matched regardless of capital letters, both against your existing leads and within the file itself.

Why this score

Every lead's page has a Why this score panel listing the points behind it. For example:

  • where they came from (a referral scores highest, then a web form)
  • a business email address scores more than a personal one, and no valid email loses points
  • a verified email gains points, and a bounced one loses them
  • being linked to a CRM company, or giving a company name, phone number, job title or website
  • writing a detailed enquiry

A lead marked do-not-contact always scores 0.

Click Rescore on the Leads page to recalculate every automatic score, or rescore a single lead from its page. When you add a lead, tick Auto to let Plenix score it, or untick it to set your own score.

With Leads Hub (Enterprise), scores can also learn from your own won and lost deals. See Attribution and lead scoring.
