Pay changes
Record a pay change with a reason and date, schedule changes for the future, and see the full pay history.
Every change to someone's pay is kept, with the old and new pay, the reason, a note, the date it takes effect and who made it.
Recording a change
- Open the person under HCM β Compensation β People.
- Select Change pay (HR only).
- Enter the new amount or a percentage, the reason and the effective date, and add a note.
| Reason | Use it for |
|---|---|
| New hire | Starting pay |
| Merit | A performance rise |
| Promotion | A new role; you can also set a new band and job title |
| Market adjustment | Bringing pay in line with the market |
| Adjustment | Any other planned change |
| Correction | Fixing a mistake |
| Other | Anything else |
Changes in the future
A change with a future effective date is scheduled. It is applied just after midnight (UK time) on that day, and the employee record is updated then. Until then you can cancel it.
Changes made elsewhere
Editing pay directly on the employee record is recorded in the pay history as well, so the history is always complete. Applying a merit cycle creates a change for each approved rise.
The Changes tab
HR sees every change and can filter by status (scheduled, applied, cancelled), reason and period.
