Overtime Requests
Request, approve and pay overtime hours.
How overtime works
Employees request overtime and managers approve it. Approved hours feed payroll at your configured overtime rate, so authorising extra hours here is what turns them into pay β there is no separate spreadsheet.
Requesting overtime
- Go to HCM β Overtime and click New Request.
- Pick the date.
- Enter the start and end time. The hours are calculated for you, rounded to the nearest quarter hour, and wrap correctly past midnight for night shifts.
- Add a reason β approvers need to know what the extra hours were for.
- Submit.
Approving
Requests route to the department head, then HR, and appear in HCM β Approvals. Filter this page by status to see what is still pending.
Getting paid
Approved overtime is picked up by the next payroll run at the overtime rate on the employee's record. Nothing needs re-entering.
Rejected requests
A rejected request is not paid and does not reach payroll. It stays visible so there is a record of what was asked for and declined.
Tip: Approve overtime before your payroll cut-off day. Hours approved after the cut-off fall into the following run, which is the usual cause of a "why was my overtime not paid" query.
