Pay equity overview

How pay equity works in Plenix: hourly pay, pay gaps by group, like-for-like roles, outliers, private equality details and dated reports.

Pay equity shows whether people are paid fairly across groups and gives you the figures for a gender pay gap report. Open it from HCM β†’ Pay equity in the sidebar. It is part of the HCM module (Business and Enterprise plans).

What is in it

  • Overview β€” median gender pay gap, roles with a gap, pay outliers, missing hours, the widest gap for other groups, how many people have given their details, and the latest report. Every tile opens the screen behind it.
  • Pay gaps β€” pay by group with the gap against a reference group, plus pay quartiles.
  • Like for like β€” groups compared inside the same job title or pay band.
  • Outliers β€” people paid well below others with the same job title, or under their band minimum.
  • Working hours β€” contracted weekly hours for salaried people.
  • Reports β€” figures frozen on a snapshot date.
  • My details β€” where each person gives their own equality details. This is the only part people outside HR can see.
  • Settings.

How pay is compared

Everyone's pay is turned into an hourly rate. Hourly staff use their hourly rate. Salaried staff use yearly salary Γ· (contracted weekly hours Γ— 52); with no hours recorded, the standard hours a year from Settings are used (1,950 by default). Fill in hours under Working hours so part-time staff are compared fairly. People who have left, and people with no pay, are left out.

Reading a gap

A gap compares a group's pay with the reference group β€” the largest group unless you pick another with Compare to this. A positive gap means the group is paid less than the reference. Mean is the average; median is the middle value and is less affected by a few very high earners.

Privacy

  • Any group smaller than the smallest group shown (5 by default, never less than 3) is hidden everywhere β€” tables, quartiles, like-for-like and reports.
  • People who have not given a detail are counted as Not stated and never compared as a group.
  • Equality details are never used to pick out individuals. Outliers come from pay and job title only.
