Compensation overview
How pay works in Plenix: pay bands, compa-ratio, the pay history, future-dated changes, merit cycles and who can see what.
Compensation keeps everyone's pay, the bands it should sit in, and every change to it. Open it from HCM β Compensation in the sidebar. It is part of the HCM module, so it is on the Business and Enterprise plans. Plans and prices have not changed.
What is in it
- Pay bands β a minimum, midpoint and maximum for each role. See Pay bands and compa-ratio.
- Pay history β every pay change with its reason and date, including changes still to come. See Pay changes.
- Merit cycles β managers plan rises for their team within a budget and HR approves them. See Merit cycles.
- Analytics β the pay bill, who is outside their band, pay by department, band and job title, and pay changes by month and reason.
Tabs
| Tab | Who sees it | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Overview | Everyone | Your pay, cycles you need to plan, and for HR the headline numbers and the people furthest from their midpoint |
| My pay | Everyone | Your pay, your band (if shown to employees) and your pay history |
| People | HR and managers | Everyone you can see, with band, compa-ratio and position |
| Merit cycles | HR, and managers in a cycle | Cycles with their budget and progress |
| Bands, Changes, Analytics, Settings | HR | Setting up and reporting on pay |
Who can see pay
- HR (people with HCM approver roles, and admins) see everyone's pay.
- Managers see the pay of everyone below them in the org chart, directly or further down. HR can turn this off in Settings.
- Employees see only their own pay and history. HR chooses whether they also see their band.
- In a merit cycle, a manager sees and changes only the people they are planning.
Settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Managers see their team's pay | Lets managers open the pay of people below them |
| Show band to employees | Shows people their own band under My pay |
| Require a note outside the guideline | A merit rise outside the guideline range needs a note |
| Default currency | Used for new bands and cycles |
Automations
Workflow rules can react to pay changes and to merit cycles, for example to notify payroll when a change takes effect.
